How to Play Lights Out

Lights Out is a logic puzzle played on a grid of lit and unlit cells. Clicking any cell toggles it along with its immediate neighbors above, below, left, and right. The goal of this turn-off-all-lights puzzle is easy to state but tricky to reach: switch every light off. Because each click affects several cells at once, the Lights Out game rewards planning over guesswork.

Strategy & Tips

• Clicking the same cell twice cancels out, so order doesn't matter — only which cells you press an odd number of times.
• Use the "chase the lights" method: press the cell directly below every light that is still on, working from the top row downward.
• Once you have chased to the bottom, the pattern of lights left in the last row tells you which top-row cells to press to finish.
